# Buttons and links

### Manage buttons and links from the fields that control each clickable element.

Buttons, text links, image links, and clickable cards are usually controlled by a **link field**. The design decides how that link is displayed on the website.

## Link fields

A link field can include the visible link text, the destination, the opening behavior, tooltip text, and an ARIA label. Depending on the design, the same link field may appear as a button, a text link, a clickable image, or a full clickable card.

## Link destinations

A link can point to different types of destinations, such as an internal page, external URL, document link, anchor, phone number, email address, or booking link. Document links are used when a button or link should open a file from Media.

## Anchor links

Use an anchor link when a button, menu item, or clickable element should take the visitor to another section of the same page.

To create an anchor link, edit the link field and choose **Page anchor** as the destination. Then select the block that the link should point to. The available anchors are based on the blocks that exist on the current page.

Anchor links are useful for one-page layouts, long landing pages, or menus that jump to sections.

Anchor links currently point to blocks on the same page. If you need to link to a section on another page, use a normal page link first and then configure the target section manually if needed.

## Review links by language

On multilingual sites, review the link text, tooltip, ARIA label, and destination for each language when needed.

|| A visible button is only the visual presentation of a link field. Changing the design can change how the link looks without changing its destination.
