What modules are

Use modules to manage structured content.

A module is a structured content manager for repeatable information, such as rooms, offers, restaurants, FAQs, news, events, or experiences.

Instead of editing this content directly inside a page, you manage it from its module. This keeps the content separate from the page layout, so you can update the information once and display it where needed.

List and detail blocks

Module content is displayed on the website using two types of blocks: list blocks and detail blocks.

A list block displays several items from a module. For example, a room_list block can show rooms, and an offer_list block can show offers.

A list block can show all items from a module or only a filtered selection, such as family offers, seasonal offers, or rooms from a specific category.

A detail block displays the full information of one specific item from a module. For example, a room_detail block can show the full content of one room, and an offer_detail block can show the full content of one offer, such as a Halloween offer.

List and detail blocks can be used on any page, depending on how you want to structure the website.

Module setup

All modules share the same setup options. From the module setup, you can configure:

• Categories: Create multiple categorizations for module items. Categories can be used on the public website to filter items or to display category information.
• Detail pages: Decide whether new items in the module should have their own page. If they do, you can choose where those pages should be placed in the menu. If items do not have their own page, they can only be displayed through list blocks.
• Item fields: Show or hide fields in the item form. This lets you hide fields that will not be used for that module in the site.

List block designs

A list block can have different designs in different parts of the same site.

For example, the Rooms module can be displayed with one list design on the Rooms page, another list design on the homepage to highlight selected rooms, and another list design on a room detail page to show related rooms.

In this case, each list block design is edited from the block itself.

Detail block design

A detail block has one design for the whole site, because each module item has one detail view regardless of where visitors come from.

For example, a room detail page should use the same room detail design whether the visitor arrives from the Rooms page, the homepage, or a related rooms block.

To edit the detail design, open the module in the CMS and use Edit template at the top of the module page. From there, you can edit the current detail design or select another design from the gallery.

This structure lets you manage content once in the module and decide where and how to display it across the site.
